The big scare is only in your mind. 2020 was the year of dread and we fell for it. News broadcasts bellowed the awful and yes there was lots of awful. Friends and family uttered worrisome words and acted accordingly.
Was there reason to be concerned? Certainly. Was there reason to take precautions like distancing, masking, washing our hands and using sanitizer? Certainly.
But was there reason to forget that God is still God and God is still in control? Absolutely not.
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
(John 16:33, NIV)
And what were the things Jesus told them earlier?
A time is coming when I will tell you plainly about my Father. The Father himself loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God.
Then Jesus’ disciples said, “Now you are speaking clearly and without figures of speech. “Do you now believe?” Jesus replied. “A time is coming and in fact has come when you will be scattered, each to your own home. You will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for my Father is with me.
(From John 16:25-32)
Did you catch the line “A time is coming when you will be scattered, each to your own home?” It happened then and it is happening now. And yet the same words hold true.
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
(John 16:33, NIV)
