Yes, one of the greatest spectacles of our time is now passed. The coronation of King Charles the Third is over. What pomp and pageantry. What history and magnificence. What illustrious fabrics and costumes. Cloaks woven of gold several hundred years ago. All the crown jewels polished and on display. What a day. (Note, you needed a ticket to participate!)
I confess that I enjoyed every bit of it. Yes, I am a monarchist. But there is a bigger, brighter event coming and I get to be a part of that too!
For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18)
Then will appear in heaven the sign of the Son of Man, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. (Matthew 24:30-31)
Therefore, you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. (Matthew 24:44)
Remember now, just as worldly coronations demand that you have a ticket, so does this one. Are you a child of God yet? Check out John 3:16. I will see you there!
