My grandson wanted to play in the water puddle even though he had no boots on. Fine.
He sat down in the puddle and thus mudded up his denim shorts. Okay.
He splashed me while he flailed his shovel and dug mud piles. Sure.
But when he used his shovel as a cup and tried to drink that slimy water, I hauled him, screaming and kicking, into the house and the bathtub. Clean water awaited, but he yearned for dirty.
When we puddle drink, God has to stop us for our own good. Co-operation is a great idea. We like to quote Psalm 91:1a but often forget to add Psalm 91:1b.
For He will give His angels charge over you to accompany and defend and preserve you in all your ways of obedience and service.
Ah, yes there is the rub, isn’t it…obedience.
