A Fisherman’s Tale

The disciples fished all night and caught nothing.

Jesus showed up on the beach and directed them to fish from the other side of the boat.

The catch is tremendous. And when they draw into shore, Jesus has a fire going and lunch cooking.

When they got to the beach— they saw a fire of coals there and fish lying on it, cooking, and bread. Jesus said to them, bring some of the fish which you have just caught. (From John 21)

Jesus told the disciples to bring what they had to him BUT he didn’t use it. Instead, he gave them the same thing, already prepared. Whatever we bring to Jesus, he already has and it is better than what we brought him.

When we bring Jesus our raw fish, things like our raw emotions, plans, and schemes, he always gives us something better in return.

Rejoice that Jesus always us something better than what we had in mind.
