You've come to a fork in the road. The sign says the road to the left is called Comfort. This road seems to be all downhill. On Comfort Road you can just coast along; no work required. The main concern on this road is your comfort. You only need to do those things you feel like doing. This sounds like the road to take, right?
You must consider the cost if you want to take this road. While the travel may seem easy, the destination is something to think about. This road leads to feeling disconnected and blah. Worry and doubt are part of the package. The focus on this road is “Me”, but this leaves you uneasy because you realize that “Me” is not enough. You become angry when the rest of the world doesn't have this same focus. After all, they are are all on the same road, focused on their needs. Yes, it seems that there are a lot of people on this road, but Comfort Road is a lonely road to travel.
So back to the fork. We know about the way to the left, but what is to the right? The sign says this is God's Way. This road seems to have more of an uphill slant. It's going to require more work; no coasting here. You will have to be deliberate to follow this road. It requires focus and purpose. The travel may be more challenging on this road, but the destination makes it worth it. And there are traveling perks. This road offers adventure. Peace and hope are found here. There may be fewer people traveling this path, but you find those travelers to be friendly and encouraging. They all have the same focus, eyes looking up. There is comfort to be found here too. But this comfort comes from knowing that Someone else is in control. Once you make the decision to travel this path, you are no longer traveling alone.
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11
It's going to be great, it's going to be wild, it's going to be full of Me.
Which road will you travel?
