Ungotten Gift

Are you still recuperating from the Christmas gift onslaught? Trying to find places to put all the new do-dads? Dusting the new do-dads? Squashing another shirt into the closet? Breaking in yet another pair of heels? Why do we do this to ourselves year after year?

It is late January and I haven’t even opened one of my Christmas gifts. I never will, because I didn’t get it, but it is still one of the best gifts I ever didn’t get!

You see, my friend Sharon gave a Bible in my name, to a ministry in Asia. That Bible went to someone who otherwise would never be able to own one.

It is unlikely that I will get to personally share the word of God in Asia but somebody will…with the Bible I got… but didn’t.

Maybe you’d like to try that ungift giving idea. After all, birthdays, anniversaries, and then Christmas will show up again this year. (Well, unless the Lord returns first!)

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?  And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! (Romans 12:13-15, KJV)

Prayer: Lord God of all salvation- thank you for the opportunity to share the Gospel, even when we can’t be there in person!
