Warning Signs

Do you heed the warning signs of life? Of course you do. Stop signs caution us not to speed lest we get a speeding ticket. Signs warn of the danger of thin ice. Shoplifters know they will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. We see signs warning about U turns.

And just last month, here in Ontario, all restaurants, movie theatres and supermarkets with more than twenty locations, must put up signs listing the calorie count of every food item. Like all signs, they are meant to move us toward wise choices.

Does all this signage work? Only you know for sure.

Here is another sign. Will you pay attention to it? Only you know for sure.

If you ever forget the Lord your God and follow other gods and worship and bow down to them, I testify against you today that you will surely be destroyed. (Deuteronomy 8:19, NIV)

Prayer – Father, give us the common sense to obey the signs that are there for our own good. Amen
