(Tabitha’s) friends prepared her body for burial and put her in a cool room. (Acts 9:37, MSG)
The Bible says that she opened her eyes and when she saw Peter, she sat up. (Acts 9:40b, MSG).
Shouldn’t it read it more like this? She opened her eyes and when she saw Peter, she SAT UP (suddenly, with shock, fear, surprise!)
Seriously, she’s been dead, and comes back to life to discover things have changed quite a bit in the last little while. Now she’s wrapped in burial clothes, face-to-face with a strange man, who is on his knees, by the bed.
Did she scream? It seems not. Peter had to call her friends into the room. Did she have questions? If so, the Bible doesn’t document them. It’s as though we should take being risen from the dead as perfectly normal. But then, it is, isn’t it.
“Now, get on your way quickly and tell his disciples, ‘He is risen from the dead.’ (Matthew 27:7b, MSG)
Prayer- Lord Jesus, thank you that you made ‘risen from the dead’ our reality. Amen
