What’s In A Name?

I wanted to encourage my friend Mary, so I looked up her name and found it attached to multiple stars of stage, screen, athletics and royalty. Wow, what a legacy!

On the other hand, my name, Brenda is short-listed! It only includes three storms, and three hurricanes. Well at least I make a big noise!

However the name Jesus is a masculine word pronounced JEE-zas. It’s the English form  Ιησους (Iesous), which is  the Greek form of the Aramaic name יֵשׁוּעַ (Yeshu’a), which is a contracted form of  Yehoshu’a.

Here is the rest of the information on the Jesus list: Yeshua ben Yoseph, better known as Jesus Christ, was the central figure of the New Testament and the source of the Christian religion.

The four Gospels state that he was the son of God and the Virgin Mary who fulfilled the Old Testament prophecies of the Messiah. He preached for three years before being crucified in Jerusalem.

That’s great information, but they forgot to add this one thing.

The fact is that Christ (the Messiah) has been raised from the dead. (1 Corinthians 15:20a, AMP)

Prayer – Lord, we falter in life when we forget this one immense truth. Christ-risen from the dead! Amen!
