Where Are the Stimulus Jobs?

American workers look so weary these days. The stress and strain of not knowing if or when the unemployment shoe will drop, or if they will become casualties of the next layoff is taking its toll. If you ask those who are employed about work, they will tell you how grateful they are to have a job while simultaneously whispering in a dejected sigh about difficult work relationships, poor morale and working environments.

Yet, recently there’s been a fresh breeze of hope that’s stirring the hearts of the employed and unemployed as well (Proverbs 13:12). American workers are hopeful that the economic stimulus from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act will produce new jobs and improve their financial health. According to WhiteHouse.gov, The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act will create or save three to four million jobs over the next two years. All 50 states will benefit from this plan with over 90% of the jobs being created or saved in the private sector.

It is estimated that the impact of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act on employment by state will range from 8,000 jobs in Vermont and Wyoming to 396,000 in California. Jobs will be created in a variety of industries including clean energy and health care.

Over the next few months, we’ll start to hear more news about the specifics in each state and where these jobs can be found. Meanwhile, look for creditable sources on job information and stay away from get-rich quick schemes or snake-oil salesmen who supposedly have the secret to getting a stimulus job for a fee, of course (Proverbs 23:4).
