In Genesis 12:2-3, God made this covenant with Abraham.
I’ll make you a great nation and bless you. I’ll make you famous; you’ll be a blessing. I’ll bless those who bless you; those who curse you I’ll curse. All the families of the Earth will be blessed through you.”
Abraham had no control over the blessing. It was all on God’s side to keep the covenant.
In Ezekiel 36:23, God promised this. I will show the holiness of my great name. And then is Isaiah 46:9-10, God repeats this truth.
“Remember this, keep it in mind, take it to heart, you rebel. Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, ‘My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.’
And then suddenly, in one day, yes on just one day, May 14, 1948, Israel was declared a nation!
Who has ever heard of such things? Who has ever seen things like this? Can a country be born in a day or a nation be brought forth in a moment? (Isaiah 66:8)
Because God did this one great thing, it’s a truth we can cling to. Our measure of time is not God’s but he always keeps his promises, always.
