Wiggle Room

Sewers have to consider the amount of ease in a pattern. Ease is the difference between the actual pattern size and the extra room needed to give the body some wiggle room. A pair of form fitting slacks has less wiggle room than a caftan.

We could say that God’s original pattern had about as much wiggle room as those slacks. The law was the law and almost impossible to keep.

Nevertheless, if it had not been for the Law, I should not have recognized sin or have known its meaning. But sin, finding opportunity in the commandment [to express itself], got a hold on me and aroused and stimulated all kinds of forbidden desires (lust, covetousness). (Romans 7: 7a, 8a, AMP).

Then Christ died for us. Suddenly we could choose the free flowing caftan of grace!

For sin shall not [any longer] exert dominion over you, since now you are not under Law [as slaves], but under grace [as subjects of God’s favor and mercy] (Romans 6:14, AMP).

Prayer: Oh God, we thank you for the wiggle room of your free grace (God’s unmerited favor) that saved us, and delivered us in Christ! Amen! (From Ephesians 2:8).
