Does It Touch You

A lot of our community pavement is being ripped up and replaced. Some of us were kvetching about the mess and the waste and the unnecessary cost.

Then one lady spoke up. “Can you do anything about it? No.  Is there any reason to waste your time and thought over it? No. Why do you let it make you so upset? Will complaining do anything? No.”

She continued .’ Let it all go and instead, worry about the health and safety of your family or your finances or the mess the government is making of our lives,”

Frankly, she lost me there. I could not do anything about those issues either. Then why worry and complain about them?

Instead, I came home and looked up these verses. Good advice for one and all and for most of the problems we have.

“Peace, I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” (John 14:27)

“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. (1 Peter 5:7)

“I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is life not more than food, and the body more than clothes?” (Matthew 6:25)

So, friend, does it touch you? No? Then why bother yourself over it?
