Yes, according to scripture, we can put God to the test. I proved this one over and over. God never fails a willing, obedient heart. Try it. Enjoy the truth of it for yourself.
1-Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this,” says the Lord of hosts, “if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows.
(From Malachi 3:10)
2-Hesitant Gideon didn’t really trust God’s first answer to his prayer so he asked again. This time he reversed the ask! God showed up again because he meets us where we are.
Then Gideon said to God, “Do not let Your anger burn against me that I may speak once more; please let me make a test once more with the fleece, let it now be dry only on the fleece, and let there be dew on all the ground.”
(From Judges 6:39)
3-Hezekiah became deathly sick and was to die. He prayed fiercely and God promised relief. “This will be your sign from God,” said Isaiah, “that God is doing what he said he’d do: Do you want the shadow to advance ten degrees on the sundial or go back ten degrees? You choose.”
Hezekiah said, “It would be easy to make the sun’s shadow advance ten degrees. Make it go back ten degrees.” Isaiah called out in prayer to God, and the shadow went back ten degrees on Ahaz’s sundial.
Ask carefully. Do not shame the Lord by doubting his previously revealed truths and promises.
He named the place Massah and Meribah because of the quarrel of the sons of Israel, and because they tested the Lord, saying, “Is the Lord among us, or not?”
(From Exodus 17:7)
