Narrow Gates

Enter through the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and spacious and broad is the way that leads away to destruction, and many are those who are entering through it. But the gate is narrow (contracted by pressure) and the way is straitened and compressed that leads away to life, and few are those who find it. (Matthew 7:13-14, AMP)

A guilty eater might take this verse to mean that if we aren’t skinny enough, we won’t fit through the gate. Believe me there was a day that I struggled with such preposterous thoughts. As a newly saved Christian, I circled ‘bread’ every time I saw it in my Bible.

You see, bread used to be my nemesis. Believe me, I can quote you a ton of what God says about bread, but it is a waste of time because that is not what the Bible is about. It is about serving the Lord Jesus, It is the gate that is narrow. So whether we personally are narrow or wide, the gate will fit us! Yay!

Prayer- Lord, sometimes your way seems really hard but we want to follow you anyway. Guide us into the narrow gate. For Christ who walked the narrow way for us. Amen.
