Oysters

Only in months with an ‘R’ in them, that used to be the rule. But now that we have refrigeration, you apparently can eat oysters any time you want. (Not that you’d want; or let me be clearer; not that I’d want.)

Oyster lovers rave over the things. “They take on the flavour of the sea!” They exclaim. I have tasted the sea, and I prefer not to taste it again, especially not in my food! No matter, there are those folk who persist in swallowing them.

Apparently the flavours vary depending where the oysters live and what was available for them to eat. And if they are harvested at the right time of year, you are also eating their spawn. YUCK!

It’s good, isn’t it, that we all have different tastes? I expect I eat things that you don’t like. Here is one taste we can all enjoy.

Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him. (Psalm 34:8, NIV)

Prayer – Father thank you that you are suitable for all palates! Thanks! In Christ. Amen
