Present-ee-ism

You’ve done it, you know you have. Present-ee-ism describes a person who goes to work even though they are sick in some way. You have, right? Yes of course. We all do it.

Why? Do we believe that we are irreplaceable? Do we fear losing our job or getting a black mark with the boss? Do we need the money? Try to do our part and not let the team down?

Now, let’s think about this. How is our “present-ee-ism” working in our spiritual life? Do we show up when sick? Put our best foot forward when we are not feeling great? Do we do our part for Christ, no matter what?

Illness is not fun, but it is in those really hard times that our attitude makes a difference for those around us. We may be unwell, but the way we handle our trials is an example  of perseverance and strength in Christ.

[We pray] that you may be invigorated and strengthened with all power according to the might of His glory, [to exercise] every kind of endurance and patience (perseverance and forbearance) with joy. (Colossians 1:11, AMP)

Prayer – Lord, give us grace to honour you in every way, even when we feel crummy. Amen
