Still Mixed Up

This line by D.L Sayers is quoted in a recent issue of Christianity Today.

“Let us, in Heaven’s name, drag out the Divine Drama from under the dreadful accumulation of slipshod thinking and trashy sentiment heaped upon it, and set it on an open stage to startle the world into some sort of vigorous reaction.” D. L. Sayer

You see, God’s Word is exciting enough without us mixing our own version of truth into it.

Divine relates to the worship or service of God and drama is an exciting, tense and gripping event.

Surely Moses leading millions across the dry bed of the Red Sea, David slaying Goliath or Jesus crucified and raised from the dead is divine drama in anyone’s eyes.

Let’s walk with the truth we were given and stop trying to invent something better. Here is the truth, folks. There is nothing better but the Word of God.

God means what he says. What he says goes. His powerful Word is sharp as a surgeon’s scalpel, cutting through everything, whether doubt or defense, laying us open to listen and obey. Nothing and no one is impervious to God’s Word. We can’t get away from it—no matter what. (Hebrews 4:12-13, MSG)

Prayer- Lord, we ask that you give us wisdom to always live by and share only your truth. Amen.
